DDH

Since Saige was breached, her pediatrician advised us to get an ultrasound on her hips to see if she had DDH. DDH is developmental dysplasia (dislocation) of the hip, it is most common in breached girls. In a normal hip the femur fits firmly into the socket but with DDH it's a loose fit and may be dislocated easy. Her ultrasound pictures were sent to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake, and so were we. There we found out she has a mild case of DDH and she needs to wear a harness to keep her bones in the right place so they can develop properly. She has to wear it for at least a month, then they will check to see how shes doing and go from there.

The first couple of days she was not happy with her new restrictions, but she is slowly getting used to them. I am still trying to get used to them too. It makes it hard to hold her, feed her and snuggle her, but we know its for the best and we are being positive and hopeful that this will fix the problem.

Trying to stretch. She needs to wear this for at least 23  hours a day.
I had to add this one of her yawning. She is just too cute!
